History
The organizational journey of Yapı Yol-İş from the Emeğin Gücü Association to İnşaat Bir-Sen and its present trade union structure.
The Emeğin Gücü Association
The Emeğin Gücü Association was established to respond to the need for organization among construction workers and to provide a basis for the independent organization of the working class.
Through its activities on construction sites, in the construction sector and in other areas of work, the association contributed to workers’ struggles for their rights. In particular, it became a space where workers in insecure employment could come together and organize. The Emeğin Gücü Association continues its activities today.
The Establishment of İnşaat Bir-Sen (2022)
Under the leadership of General President Mustafa Adnan Akyol, the work of the association developed into a trade union organization. İnşaat Bir-Sen was established in 2022.
This step brought the ongoing struggles of construction workers into an institutional trade union structure.
Yapı Yol-İş (2024)
At the general assembly held in 2024, again under the leadership of Mustafa Adnan Akyol, the union’s name was changed to Yapı Yol-İş.
This change reflected a broader approach to organization, extending beyond construction workers to include workers in road and infrastructure projects.
Independent Class-Based Trade Unionism
Since its establishment, Yapı Yol-İş has adopted an independent class-based trade union approach. From 2024 onward, it has continued its organization under the umbrella of the TÜM İŞ Confederation, building a common line of struggle with sister unions in different sectors.
